  along the lines of joy's post on friends, i wanted to add my own 2 cents in praise of this board!

  to put it all in a nutshell, i learned how to *drink* when i was at bethel, around late 89 to early 93. was disfellowshipped sometime just before thanksgiving 94, and have continued to be a heavy drinker ever since.

  about a month & a half ago i discovered this board, and last sunday i quit drinking .

  Well I agree with the post on addiction! I think people that are attracted to the JW religion are addictive people to start with...or the majority of them are. From what I have read from many posters this seems to be true!

  Many on the boards go overboard in alcohol or drugs or sex or? after leaving the religion...That might be one reason..that they are people that have addiction problems and are not aware of it? JMO

  Also......Congratulations Spider Monkey!!!!!!!

  I think we have all felt extremely elated after our "Discoveries" about the so-called "Truth"

  ps...Wind between my cheeks???? Which "Cheeks????"

  i want to share this experience i recently had with everyone here.

  last weekend i spoke to my good friend who was a jw elder but has since stepped down, nonetheless still calls me on a regular basis despite my being df'd.

  first he tells me that the dateline topic is hot.

  OK I have to tell you what my JW Mother in Law is saying about the show. She said that she believed it! BUT....they were all apostates that snuck their way into the organization!

  And that Jehovah is now cleaning them out..They say that the show was aloud to be on for a reason...to clean out the org!

  She even asked for a copy of it so she could show it to the ones that missed it!

  I also verified that Subscriptions are no longer available ..period...to anyone! The only thing they will send is the Large print Watchtower in Subscription form. It ONLY has the study articles in it.

  Strange..they cashed my hubby's check but didn't send the magazines..only a "Thank you for your donation " letter! No explanation. I wonder how many people that don't attend the Kingdom Hall lost money that way? I specified that it was for a subscription for my brother for 1 year to the Watchtower and Awake! (My brother has bible discussions with others and likes to use all religions material.) Think I should ask for a refund?? Maybe contact the Better Business Bureau?

  ps...Try to reason wth a 80 year old JW...

  I guess you will lhave to pick up any magazines you want at the Kingdom Hall or from someone going door to door or a friend or a relative.NOT!

  I no longer smoke. I quit several years ago.

  After watching both my parents die at an early age from Cigarette related illnesses..I decided to quit.

  Plus, my Dr said in 5 years I would probably get emphysema if I did not quit .

  For all smokers...I recommend seeing your Dr. and having a talk with him.They have drugs they can give you to lessen the withdrawl symptoms! They gave me Wellbutrin. I still wanted a cig. but I didn't go ballistic if I didn't have one! Great Anti-depressant..and believe me..he took me off the prescription as soon as I quit! Time to face reality again.

  Now about this excess weight!

  we parted ways on a sour note because you couldn't talk me into going back to being a jw.

  i really enjoyed our chats, you were such a sweetie and, well, always made me feel good (except the jw thing).

  states:"therefore no dedicated christian minister can remain in good standing in the new world society of jehovah's witnesses and at the same time be a member of a nudist colony or frequent nudist camps" so if you had to make a choice,what would you do?.

  I am a Golden Oldie (60 on Aug. 1st) so I thought your post was hilarious! I'll laugh about that all day tomorrow!

  I wonder if your Dad ever got to "Check one out when he was 64?"He would have been a lot younger in the 1960's....Things change!

  I could just see Hubby and I in one of those!!OMG that's so funny!We would be hiding behind the trees with our legs crossed!
